Fun Weekend in Little Rock

The girls and I left on Thursday to go to Little Rock for my Mom's birthday. John met us there Friday night to spend the rest of the weekend. We spent a lot of time in my parent's backyard. The girls love wandering through the garden and helping my Mom water flowers. We also played with our $1 store purchases every evening.

John and I went to hear Heypenny on Friday night at Juanita's. Ben and John were roommates in college. I had never heard them live and it was really fun. I got to visit some with my old roomie from college, Lindsay, in between all the songs. You can't beat live music, good friends, and margaritas. Did I mention that John and I got home at 1:00AM. It was VERY hard waking up at 7:00 to take care of little ones. It was worth it.

John and Terral went to play golf together on Saturday afternoon. My Mom and I took the girls to my sister's house to swim. It was Claire's first swim, so I was happy to be a part of the occasion. My girls LOVED being in the water. Emma was in there for about 2 hours straight. Brooklyn played around for about an hour, but then had to go take a nap. She was not happy about getting out, but she zonked out very quickly. I wish we could go swimming there every day this summer.

Our favorite babysitter, Amanda, graduated from college this year and moved to North LIttle Rock. Although we are sad to not have her up here anymore, we are glad to have a sitter in Little Rock. She came over to my parent's house to babysit Emma, Brooklyn, and Claire on Saturday night. My parents, Cathy and Terral, and John and I went to eat an AWESOME dinner for my Mom's birthday/Father's Day. It was a treat to just be with the 6 of us and not have to talk over kiddos.

Father's Day started with the girls and I going to McDonald's to get John and sausage McGriddle. We went to church with my family and then ate some lunch. We headed back here to finish off the Father's Day. We love you John!

Happy Anniversary to Us (Yesterday)!

Yesterday, John and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary. We decided to treat ourselves to Ruth's Chris for dinner. John casually mentioned to his boss yesterday that it was our anniversary and Brandon VERY NICELY told John to put our dinner on the company. John has had to work some longer hours on the weekends lately and also came up with a way to make the weekend work easier, so he rewarded John with a free dinner for both of us. Isn't that so nice??? Thank you Brandon! It is not an inexpensive place to eat, so it really was a treat. Although, it was pretty good, we decided that we will stick with Bordino's for our future special dinners. It is a treat within itself to not have to talk over children and cut up special food. We had a great time together. Our anniversary will continue on September 13th in Tulsa when we see American Idol Live! We gave each other tickets. We know we are dorks, but we love it. You can't knock the concert until you go. We went 3 years ago and it was a really great show. We figure this might be the cheapest way we ever see David Cook since he will be big time soon.

In honor of our anniversary, Emma and I watched our wedding video yesterday. It was fun and I got asked some really funny questions. This was one of our conversations, but I will preface it first by saying that Emma has recently decided that she does not want a baby of her own b/c she would have to go to the hospital and get a shot.

Emma: I don't want to get married.
Me: Why not?
Emma: Because then I would have to go to the hospital and get a shot to have a baby.
Me: (laughing) You don't have to have a baby just because you are married. You can just be married.
Emma: Okay, I will do that then.

More Summer Fun

We had some fun cousin time this morning. Grace, Luke and Isaac came over to play in the sprinkler with Emma and Brooklyn. They taught us MANY fun things that you can do with a water hose. This is what they tried out today:
1. They put the sprinkler under the trampoline and then jumped.
2. They jimmy rigged the hose to make a water slide
3. They ran the sprinkler in front of the swing
4. Of course, just good old fashion running through the sprinkler.

Brooklyn did a lot of this stuff, but she stayed by the water table most of the time.

I love that we all live so close and they can come over to play. AND, I'm really glad that a 12, 10, and 8 year old are not too cool to play with a 4 1/2 year old and a 20 month old. I will close with Emma's quote for the day:
"I wish they could all come over everyday."
